PASTOR'S STUDY LEAVE: Please pray for Pastor Chris as he is off on study leave this week (July 13-18). He will still be preaching and leading Life Group, however the rest of the week he will be devoting to academic, personal and ministry writing projects like finishing a history article for an academic journal on C.H. Spurgeon and the Downgrade Controversy, and working on his book Drippings from the Honeycomb: Reflections from a Pastor and Beekeeper (forthcoming).
SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE: Please join us this coming Sunday for a message by Pastor Chris from Psalm 71, on "Growing Old God's Way".
SUNDAY EVENING SERVICE: Please plan to join us at 6 pm for our evening service outside around the campfire, weather permitting. The message from Pastor Chris will be from Psalm 37 entitled "Fret Not; Be Not Anxious Because of the Wicked". Don't miss a fantastic opportunity to worship together outside in God's creation. All are welcome!
LORD'S DAY MESSAGES: Our past Lord's Day morning and evening service sermons are posted on the past sermons page.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY, SATURDAY JULY 25: Would you like to help construct our nativity set for this Christmas’ roadside outreach? We’ll be cutting, painting and assembling it all on Saturday July 25 from 8-10. Bring a jig-saw or saw horses if you have one.
MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING: Our monthly prayer meeting will take place Tuesday August 4 (due to Civic holiday on Monday) at 7 pm. If you would like to join by ZOOM, please click here for the details.
MEMBERSHIP: The next congregational ministry meeting will be on September 30. This is the next opportunity for membership applications to be approved by members. We already have one application under consideration by the leadership and some who are contemplating this. If you are interested in becoming a member - making your invisible union with Christ and His universal body tangibly evident by committing to the local church - then please speak with the Pastor or Deacons. You must profess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, be baptized by immersion or be open to this and agree with our statement of faith.
VBS: Due to the COVID pandemic, there will be no VBS this summer. Please pray for how we may reach and disciple children in the Gospel. We will be suggesting some online VBS programs being offered by other local/FEB churches.
SONG REQUESTS: Do you have a song or hymn you would like to hear or sing in the morning or evening services? We would love to take your requests! Please forward to email@example.com.
COVER TO COVER: This week we continue to read chronologically through the Old Testament this year.
LIFE GROUPS: We have three groups that currently meet on Wednesdays: One in Markdale in the afternoon at 1 pm at the home of Shirley McCracken (led by Glenn Taylor), and two in the evening at 7 pm: One in Markdale at the Crockers (led by Pastor Chris) and one in the Berkeley area (led by Bill Butt). If you are not part of a group and would like to be, please contact the respective leader or Pastor Chris. This week's study is on Psalm 139 —God’s Omniscience.
CHURCH SERVICE ROTATION: If you previously were on a rotation (or would like to join) please speak to the leader of that ministry and if in doubt contact Doug Reider.
FLOWERS: With flower season in full swing, if you have a beautiful bloom you’d like to devote to the Lord by allowing it to grace the Communion Table, please arrange to drop them off on Friday or Saturday of each week.
KIDS "N" US: As a reminder, Kids 'n' Us will be using our Lower Hall this summer. Please pray that this provision will help us be a light to our community and that we will have opportunities to form many relationships for the Gospel.
OFFERING BOX - For those of you physically attending the service, there is new offering box in the foyer to replace the passing of the offering plates.
MAILBOXES: Just a reminder that everyone has a mailbox cubicle in the foyer of the church. Check the list posted on the cork board to the left of the boxes for your number.
CHURCH RE-OPENING IN THE NEWS: The Dundalk Herald/Flesherton Advance ran a story in their latest edition about the re-opening of churches. Pastor Chris and Markdale Baptist Church were featured. If you would like to read the article and don't get the paper, click here.
COMMUNITY MUSIC MINISTRY : We were able to minister in music to Markdale Hospital and Grey Gables again this week via our YouTube Channel. Many thanks to the Drury family for sharing their time and gifts with us. The third "Community Entertainment" video will be posted on our YouTube Channel with the previous two shortly.
PRAYER REQUESTS and PRAISE: Don't be shy! We would love to pray for you. If your situation is too personal to share, you can simply ask for prayer. It would also be extremely encouraging to know how you are praising God each week. To include both praise and prayer items our newsletter, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday end of day each week. For Sunday morning prayer during or after our Livestream, you may email them as above or text them to 519-375-2449.
Future Events - Please check back regularly as we update the status on the events below.
CONGREGATIONAL MINISTRY MEETINGS: A growing church requires regular meetings to affirm key decisions and discuss aspects of the life of the church. As such we will be moving to holding three annual meetings (if they are not needed, we will cancel them and if more are required, we’ll add them). Our first meeting was held January 29. Our May 27th meeting was postponed due to the COVID restrictions. Stay tuned for a new date. A third meeting is planned for September 30 at 7 pm, Lord willing. Future meetings for 2020 will be in place of Life Groups on Wednesday evenings. Everyone is welcome to attend but only members may vote. If you would like more information about becoming a member of MBC, please speak to the pastor or the deacons.
