September 1st, 2019, we welcomed the Crocker family as Chris became the Pastor of Markdale Baptist Church. Please see our "Events" page for pictures of the day. May the Lord richly bless our ministry together! Please see a message below from Chris.
My name is Chris. By the grace of God, I am a follower of Jesus and am privileged to have been called to serve as the Pastoral-Elder of His Church at Markdale Baptist Church. I look forward to shepherding and teaching His flock. I am also teaching Church History part-time at Toronto Baptist Seminary. I am passionate about discipling people to know the One who said, I came that they might have “life and life to the fullest” (John 10:10), humility before Christ and His Word, and gleaning wisdom from the history of His Church (Heb 13:7).
I was born and raised in rural Elgin Co., ON., and came to faith in Jesus at a young age; following Him ever since has been the greatest adventure of my life. Since 2006 I have been married to Rebekah, with whom I attended primary school. We have one son, Digory.
Rebekah also came to faith at a young age. She has a background in history and early years and now enjoys being a full-time mum. Apart from family and ministry, she enjoys crafts, gardening, reading and a good cup of tea!
From 2008–2014 we served in rural ministry in Ontario while I concurrently served as a Canadian Army Reserve Force Chaplain. From 2014–2019 we had five especially happy years of ministry service in a chapel in rural England, all the while I pursued further studies.
Aside from quality family life, ministry and Christian academia, I delight in many common gifts the Lord has blessed us with. I am a fourth generation beekeeper, an avid outdoorsman and lover of adventure. I run six days a week with my dog Jennie. I also enjoy travel, carpentry, gardening, music, strategy games, history, geography and good conversation. I look forward to how I may minister to you in the Lord and putting down roots in Markdale! The Lord’s Sweetest Blessings, Christopher W. Crocker Pastoral-Elder, Markdale Baptist Church (M.Div., M.A., PhD.)
