The Bible can be a confusing read if one doesn't understand it is actually one big story and not lots of little unconnected stories. The Bible is all about salvation in Jesus (Lk 24:27). This big story is sometimes called salvation history or redemption's story. It has major portions like: Creation, Fall, Redemption, Judgement and Glory. It is the story of how God created a perfect world for His glory, which fell from grace and came under His just judgement, and how in His mercy (even right at the beginning of the story Gen 3:15) He choose to provide a way of salvation. The plan was laid down in a series of covenants (or agreements), most notably Abraham's. Through Abraham's offspring would come the One who'd reverse the curse of the fall and make all things right (a blessing) for those who'd believe. Enter Jesus, this promised One, whom all of the Old Testament pointed towards. Through His death and resurrection came the New Covenant where all people everywhere could find forgiveness of sin and eternal life, freely and easily. Now until He comes again, those people who believe in and follow Jesus are gathered together as the Church, proclaiming the good news about Jesus to all nations and living as witnesses to Him, until He comes again to make all things right for His people and judge those who have rejected Him and lived in rebellion to God and sin.
